Both a recorded performance and digital, audio-visual project, This Place Holds a Memory pays homage to abandoned sites in Unama’ki / Cape Breton with a series of shadow-puppet performances cast on the exterior surface of a ruined structure that looks out to the ocean. These performances were recorded and publicly presented at Lumiere 2021 (Sydney, Nova Scotia) as cycles of dream imagery evoking real and imagined memories of the relationship between the land and sea.

This Place Holds a Memory was a collaborative project between Gillian Davies and myself.
