What our students have said:
“Experience of lifetime! Don’t miss out!”
- Sarah Wright (Art Hist 3V03 2011)
“For me, studying the history of art is enriching in itself, but having the opportunity to view revered works in situ is unprecedented. It almost feels otherworldly. The plethora of art we were able to view on our trip to Italy this past June was incredible. The connection one feels with his or her favourite piece makes the art seem more tangible, more visceral, more real.”
- Jessica Martin (Art Hist 3V03 2012))
"The 3VV3 course was the best class I have ever taken! Nothing compares to seeing a work of art in reality, because there are just so many details that are missed in art history text books!"
- Ailish Corbett (Art Hist 3VV3 2013)
“Taking the Art History 3VV3 course this summer was an incredible experience that provided so many opportunities to me. Firstly, studying in situ allowed me to learn by experiencing the original art pieces within their historical and social contexts, which made for an exciting learning environment and the continuous possibility of discovery! There’s something wonderful about really seeing pieces for the first time; the responses they produce and the conversations they lend themselves to are really special. Moreover, as a Fine Arts student, studying these pieces also broadened my studio practice, since I could consider them from a contemporary standpoint. I had the chance to learn from and alongside students with various academic program backgrounds, and I feel this made the experience even more enriching, as we each brought our own interests and ideas into discussions. Overall, this was a great course! I made some wonderful friends, saw some brilliant places and always enjoyed the learning process. Oh, and one more thing, did I mention the gelato? ;)”
